Due to Hurricane Matthew, the EJCBA Luncheon at the Wooly scheduled for this Friday, October 7, 2016 is cancelled. If you already paid for the luncheon, the EJCBA will credit your October luncheon payment toward a future EJCBA Luncheon (up to May 2017) or you may request a full refund from EJCBA Executive Director Judy Padgett at

Given the luncheon cancellation, you may contact Jennifer Springfield ( or Dominique Lochridge-Gonzales ( to have an EJCBA Holiday Project box delivered to you. Alternatively, boxes may be picked up at Three Rivers Legal Services, located at 901 NW 8th Avenue Suite D5, Gainesville, 32601 between the hours of 8:30 and 5:00 (Monday-Friday). Boxes may be returned at the November 4th EJCBA Luncheon, or a pickup may be scheduled with Jennifer or Dominique.

The North Central Florida Chapters of the FBA and ABOTA have also cancelled the October 7 Civility Matters CLE because of inclement weather. Registration payments will be refunded. Please contact Rob Griscti at if you have questions. The Chapters will reschedule an event in 2017, at a date to be announced.

The Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy, and Union County Courthouses will remain open until 5:00 today, and will be closed on Friday due to the expected impact of Hurricane Matthew. Baker and Bradford County Courthouses will close at 3:00 today and will be closed on Friday. All Offices of the State Attorney in Eighth Circuit will be closed on Friday as well.

The EJCBA Mental Health and Diversion Programs CLE scheduled for Monday, October 10, 2016 at 1 PM has also been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a future date.
